The 55-meter Heesen superyacht Solemates is currently undergoing trials in the North Sea, with delivery expected later this month. This follows her launch and christening ceremony in January, where she officially shed her build name, Project Venus.
Solemates was sold in June 2024 to a “distinguished yacht connoisseur” and repeat Heesen client, represented by Rupert Connor from Luxury Yachts. The name Solemates has previously been used for several yachts, including a 60-meter Lürssen, a 52-meter Feadship, and most recently, a 36-meter Mulder.
“Heesen’s exceptional quality standards and unwavering commitment to exceeding expectations ensured that Solemates would be another extraordinary build,” said Connor. “The construction process was, once again, a pleasure, as their project team enthusiastically embraced our requests.”
The yacht features a slender steel hull, constructed by Dutch shipyard Talsma, based on Van Oossanen Naval Architects’ ultra-efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). The steel hull construction takes place at a separate location from Heesen’s Oss facility to prevent cross-contamination with its aluminum builds.
Silvia Margutti of Luca Dini Design and Architecture led the yacht’s bespoke 760GT interiors, which incorporate vibrant color schemes of lime green, teal, and baby aqua blue. A sneak preview of the interior design proposals was offered to BOAT International in April 2024.
A standout feature of Solemates is the redesigned main staircase, decorated with acrylic panels embedded with gold flakes and crystals. Other notable features include an 82-square-meter owner’s apartment, a sundeck with a Jacuzzi, and a beach club with a sauna, bar, and direct water access. The yacht is also designed to fit into all Mediterranean ports.
“The launch of Solemates illustrates our commitment to delivering exceptional quality and innovative design,” said Heesen CEO Niels Vaessen. “We take pride in creating yachts that not only meet but exceed the aspirations of our clients.”
Scheduled for delivery in Q2 2025, Solemates will make her official debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025, followed by an appearance at the Palm Beach International Boat Show in 2026.
According to BOATPro, Heesen currently has 11 yachts on order or under construction, with the largest being the 57-meter Project Setteesettanta.
