Mulder Design has unveiled the first rendering of its new 28-meter motor yacht, the Onyx 92, which promises a striking combination of performance and luxury typically seen on much larger vessels. With a bold, sculpted profile and sleek lines, the Onyx 92 is designed to appeal to those who seek both adventure and refined relaxation on the water.
“This is not just a cruiser,” Mulder Design explains, “it’s a floating oasis for those who desire both excitement and tranquility.” The yacht is built with a GRP hull and superstructure, featuring a contemporary design that includes subtle curves and a near-vertical bow, enhancing her distinctive appearance.
The Onyx 92 offers two flexible interior layouts. In Option A, the forward-facing owner’s stateroom is situated at the bow, accompanied by an open-plan lounge and dining area aft, along with a galley. The owner’s suite is further enhanced with a large office, walk-in dressing room, and his-and-hers ensuite bathrooms. The lower deck features a VIP stateroom amidships, a double stateroom forward, a twin cabin, and a spacious lounge area.
Option B reimagines the owner’s suite area, transforming it into a large open-plan kitchen and dining space with a breakfast bar-style island separating the galley from the dining table. This layout opens up the aft area for an expansive saloon with large L-shaped sofas, offering guests a comfortable space to enjoy scenic sea views.
On both configurations, the lower deck houses three capacious double staterooms and two twin cabins, all with ensuite bathrooms. Crew accommodations are placed aft, providing space for up to four crew members.
One of the standout features of the Onyx 92 is its beach club, which includes a bar positioned directly at the water’s edge. The expansive foredeck offers a large sunbed surrounded by four lounge corners, creating multiple zones for open-air relaxation and socializing.
The yacht’s sundeck is versatile, able to be configured as either an enclosed skylounge and alfresco dining area or as an open-plan exterior deck space with lounge seating and a dining table for up to 12 guests.
In terms of performance, the Onyx 92 is powered by twin MTU 2000 M96 engines, with an optional Volvo Penta IPS drive. The yacht can reach a top speed of 26 knots, cruise comfortably at 18 knots, and has a transoceanic range of 1,800 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots.
With her shallow draft, the Onyx 92 is perfect for navigating locations that larger yachts cannot reach, including the hidden bays of the Bahamas and the serene waters of the Florida Keys.
