Heesen Yachts has announced the delivery of Serena, a 55-meter (80-foot) superyacht from its Steel Series, marking the shipyard’s first launch of 2025. This new vessel showcases a perfect blend of Dutch engineering and Italian design, with Omega Architects responsible for the exterior design, Van Oossanen Naval Architects handling the naval architecture, and Luca Dini Design & Architecture creating the luxurious interior.
Construction of Serena began in the spring of 2022 on spec, but it quickly found an owner, with Monaco-based Arcon Yachts overseeing the project. Designed for blue-water cruising, the yacht is capable of long-distance voyages while offering comfort and performance even in challenging conditions.
The yacht features a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) and is powered by two MTU 8V 4000 M63 engines, which propel it to a top speed of 15.5 knots. At a cruising speed of 13 knots, Serena offers an impressive transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles (8,334 kilometers), making it an ideal vessel for ocean crossings.
In terms of design, Serena stands out with several unique features, including continuous tinted glass and the removal of mullions in the salon and skylounge, creating a sleek and luminous appearance. Additional modifications include extra stairways for better circulation, a square Jacuzzi, and a French balcony in the owner’s suite. The extended sun deck, now offering 110 square meters (1,184 square feet) of space, provides more flexibility for seating arrangements and entertainment, along with a forward seating area that boasts fantastic views.
The interior, designed with the owners’ lifestyle and taste in mind, includes five staterooms that can accommodate up to 12 guests. The owner’s suite, located on the main deck, includes a full-beam suite with a private veranda, lounge, and office. The yacht also offers a spacious VIP cabin on the wheelhouse deck and four additional guest staterooms on the lower deck.
For socializing and relaxation, Serena features a generously sized main salon, divided into three areas, with a well-stocked bar connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces. The beach club, designed as a waterside retreat, allows natural light to flood in through glass portholes, while the Sky Lounge serves as a social hub with a custom games table and comfortable seating.
Wellness features include a sauna with elegant wood finishes and a gym on the bridge deck, which can be converted into a guest cabin if needed, adding versatility to the yacht’s layout.
Heesen Yachts’ CEO, Niels Vaessen, praised the Steel Series as “the best example of intelligent superyacht construction.” Rick van de Wetering, Chief Operations Officer at Heesen, emphasized Serena‘s unique combination of luxury, customization, and reliability, marking it as a standout in the world of superyachts.
