A new superyacht concept is turning heads in the luxury marine world with an unusual and bold design feature — a built-in beach.
Created by Greek design firm AMK Architecture & Design, the vessel, aptly named The Real Beach, redefines the conventional aft deck by transforming it into a serene, sandy retreat. The concept blends natural inspiration with modern innovation, delivering what designers call a “full sensory experience” at sea.
Unlike standard beach clubs found on many luxury yachts, The Real Beach offers a more immersive setting. At the heart of its design is a freeform swimming pool shaped to resemble a natural shoreline. It is surrounded by sun-soaked lounging areas with tented daybeds, soft sun pads, and lush tropical greenery.
One of the standout features is the yacht’s so-called “sand carpet” — a textured surface designed to replicate the feel and warmth of real beach sand. This innovative addition allows guests to enjoy the tactile pleasures of a shoreline experience without leaving the vessel.
Adding to the organic atmosphere, a sculpted bar designed to resemble a natural rock formation sits at the center of the space. Overhead, a gracefully arched canopy provides shelter from the sun, while integrated lighting transforms the area after dark into an inviting nighttime lounge.
Sustainability is also central to the concept. AMK has incorporated eco-conscious materials throughout the design, including reclaimed wood, natural stone, and plant-based composites. The sand-like surface is presented as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional yacht decking.
Although The Real Beach remains a concept, it is already gaining industry recognition. It has been shortlisted for the “Interior Design – Concept Yacht Award” at the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2025.
While it’s uncertain whether the yacht will be built, its innovative approach is expected to influence future superyacht designs, particularly those that seek to bring passengers closer to nature.
For now, luxury yacht enthusiasts may just have to imagine sipping a cocktail with their toes in the (artificial) sand.
